What is the Authentic Connection?
My hypnotherapy clients come to me for a variety of reasons, but one of the things we invariably work on is the relationship with ourselves. I call this the authentic connection.
🌟 When we try and understand all the parts of us – and they are all laid out, one by one, we can get an overview. It’s like starting a puzzle – starting with the edges, defining the parameters of the work we are going to do together and then looking for areas which are most prominent and want to be tackled first. Sometimes it’s not until later that we see the whole – and the bigger picture.
When the puzzle pieces are mainly in place, we can continue to search for the missing pieces – filling the gaps. There might be a piece that you’re trying to fit into a space, but it just doesn’t fit. Or you realise that the picture you have been following is upside down. It’s the picture to a different puzzle, or there is no picture. Going on a personal journey of discovery can be like that.
Getting to Know Ourselves
While we are searching, we are also developing a sense of positive self-regard and raising our self-esteem.
This is an imperative part of the process and involves really looking at the deepest parts of ourselves – and what we want and need to thrive. Working out what makes us happy can be harder than it seems sometimes. Many of the people I have spoken to have said they had been going along with life, doing what was expected of them and what they thought they ought to be doing. Tapping into what they wish or desire to do – that’s a whole different question.
This is where they can create their plot twist and change the course of the rest of their lives. This could mean changes in their everyday experience, or it could be a whole new direction.
Building self esteem is an inside job.
Once we are adults, it has to start from us. If we’re lucky, we can remember times, places and people that make us feel good about ourselves. We can capture the feeling that we have purpose, and we are valued. If we didn’t pick up these messages in childhood, all is not lost. We can create these feelings for ourselves.
Improving Our Self-Esteem
Raising your own self-esteem can be as simple as taking the time to get to know what you really want in life.
🌟 How do you want each day to start and end?
🌟 What tiny details can make each day a little bit better?
🌟 What are the things you are not facing, which would give you a sense of relief if you did?
🌟 How can you continue to create positive feelings you have experienced before?
Working on bringing harmony to your mind, body and soul can bring you into a feeling of alignment. That’s what I am thinking of when I talk about the authentic connection.
Connecting Daily
I think it’s important to keep connecting and communicating with ourselves, getting to know the good the bad and the ugly, the hopes and the dreams, which by the way, change over time. I think that is what real self-love is about and it makes life so much richer.
When we are in sync with ourselves, it brings so much goodness to us. Like attracts like and what we put out into the world is reflected back at us in the people we meet and the conversations we have. This is how we can spread the positivity we create with others and help them to also find that within.
